Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus (BGCC) is seeking a high energy, results driven Assistant Director of Development. As an integral part of the organization’s resource development team, the Assistant Director of Development fosters lasting relationships between the organization and its benefactors furthering the mission of the Clubs.

The Assistant Director of Development jointly supports the fundraising plan for Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus and Boys & Girls Club of Marion County. This position develops and implements strategies for cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of gifts from alumni, friends, volunteers, corporations, foundations and other entities in support of the organizations’ missions, objections and priorities as set by the strategic plans.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently; have experience in fundraising, with a proven record of success identifying, soliciting and stewarding annual, special or major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundation.

Essential Functions: Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus: (60%)/Boys & Girls Club of Marion County: (40%)

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward new prospects and current donors in order to meet established revenue goals
  • Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, developing, executing, and monitoring annual plans for each
  • Meet or exceed goals, including revenue and visit goals, which have been mutually agreed upon by the Assistant Director of Development, Chief Development Officer and CEO
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief Development Officer to identify needed resources and corresponding funding streams to support the strategic plan
  • Maintain donor records and provide call reports documenting each visit in donor database. Provide bi-weekly progress reports of all activities
  • Run all necessary reports to track progress towards goals, arrange visits and track prospect giving
  • Prepare written proposals or strategies for verbal solicitations in consultation with the Chief Development Officer
  • Meet regularly with the CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Marion County to provide progress reports and strategy for moves management
  • Work in collaboration with the CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Marion County to assist with board development and execution of the annual fundraising event
  • Work outside the office on a regular basis making face-to-face visits
  • Attend organizational events as assigned
  • Develop weekly travel schedule that covers both Columbus and Marion regions
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required
  • Experience fundraising, 3-5 years of experience preferred
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Proficient in Donor Perfect or similar fundraising software
  • Congruence with Boys & Girls Club mission and values
  • Ability to travel regionally (specifically Columbus and Marion)
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license and must pass a criminal background check and drug test
