The Associate Director of Programs & Club Operations is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Sullivant Teen Center Boys & Girls Club site and summer youth employment initiatives, including program delivery, youth engagement, outcome measurement, staff supervision and community engagement. Works in collaboration with parents, school personnel, outside organizations/agencies to provide distinct and well-rounded opportunities for teen Boys & Girls Club members. Creates Great Futures for young people in Columbus!

Goals:

  • Ensure Club operates at maximum capacity with regards to member attendance; meet daily attendance goals established by Administration;
  • Offer members appropriate wraparound services to meet individual needs;
  • Focus academic efforts is grade progression and high school graduation; it is our goal that all members move on to pursue post-secondary education, a skill or trade school, the armed forces, or their planned career path;
  • Develop well-rounded members who are actively involved in their community;

    

     Essential Job Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Demonstrate high levels of enthusiasm towards Club members, parents, and visitors; offer exceptional customer service experience at all times;
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local schools, community leaders, and other organizations that increase the visibility of Club programs and deepen the impact of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus;
  • Ensure that information regarding Club happenings is accurate and readily available.

Professionalism:

  • Represent Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus within organization, school, and community meetings;
  • Attend and participate in weekly meetings to discuss relevant data, Club-specific outcomes, and organization-wide information;
  • Communicate and enforce organization-wide policies, procedures, and standards with regard to upkeep, usage, and maintenance of building, vehicles, and Club equipment;
  • Explain organizational goals, values, programs, objectives and standards; provide and receive information in all settings;
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate Club staff;
  • Practice team values as outlined by administration at all times;
  • Maintain close and consistent contact with Chief Executive Officer.

Fun & Intentional Programming:

  • Cultivate and maintain a Club environment that is fun, safe and positive; staff encourage youth development through quality experiences and high standards of achievement;
  • Utilize program evaluation methods to ensure that programming is aligned with the core youth development outcomes of Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles;
  • Execute the Vision 2030 Strategic Plan on the Club level by implementing effective programs and activities that support the needs of all members;
  • Oversee the delivery of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards, goals, program calendars, schedules and program plans;
  • Ensure quality improvements by monitoring, data collection, and evaluation of data as it relates to program achievement.

Staff Engagement:

 

  • Hire, supervise, and supervise staff on a daily basis; provide direct supervision through program observation, real-time coaching, and regularly scheduled meetings;
  • Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned staff;
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings to plan Club events and highlight pertinent information;
  • Uphold staff accountability to the highest degree; ensure staff expectations established by Administration are followed on the Club level;
  • Maintain accurate staff records; document meetings, staff progress, and disciplinary actions;
  • Maintain close and consistent contact with Director of Team Development to ensure the proper onboarding and development of club staff.

Data Tracking & Utilization:

 

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Learning Circle, DESSA, and Visions Member Tracking Systems;
  • Effectively analyze data to improve program quality and effectively plan Club-wide programming and member experiences;
  • Ensure staff are trained to effectively utilize databases;
  • Train appropriate staff to manage data entry and ensure accuracy of data by supervision of key staff
  • Submit reports as requested by Director of Programs & Club Operations;

Club Appearance:

  • Promote a clean, organized, and visually attractive Club facility at all times;
  • Oversee the maintenance of Club equipment, including safety of property;
  • Conduct facility checks on a daily basis, reporting specific needs and repairs and coaching staff to improve facilities as needed.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Youth of the Year, Keystone, etc.);
  • Required to drive Club van periodically;
  • Work with staff on special events and/or events in other departments;
  • Manage Job Coaches in the overall implementation of the Summer Youth Employment Program;
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university;
  • A minimum of four years of work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people;
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders;
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Ability to provide exceptional community service experiences.;
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management;
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications;
  • Valid Driver’s License.

 

Physical Requirements of Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in an office environment;
  • Ability to work in a Club environment with possible extended periods of movement and engagement;
  • Ability to do light to moderate lifting.
