Site Director: KIPP

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus is seeking dynamic and experienced management professionals to oversee operations and programs at various Columbus area Clubs.  The Club Director will be responsible for the overall implementation of a fun and impactful youth development program for up to 200 youth, ages 6-18, per day.  Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of experience leading youth programs and managing staff.  Experience managing facilities is a plus.  Competitive salary and benefits package offered.  Additional information about the position’s responsibilities are provided below.

 

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  • LeadershipCreate a Club culture that facilitates positive youth development and impactful programs by setting high standards of excellence in Club programming and services for the club staff and volunteers.
  • Prepare Youth for Success- Plan and oversee the supervision of designated Clubhouse programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes in the areas of Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles.
  • Program Development and Implementation-
    1. Plan, develop, implement and evaluate overall Club programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests.

    2. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation.

    3. Ensure that Club operates at optimal capacity.

  • Relationships- Work effectively with club staff, volunteers and Club members to accomplish organizational goals. Works at maintaining or enhancing ones self-esteem; Listens and responds with empathy; Asks for help and encourages involvement and takes actions that respect the needs and contributions of others.
  • Resource Management
    1. Recruit, manage, evaluate and provide career development opportunities for unit staff.

    2. Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.

    3. Control Clubhouse program and activity expenditures within approved budget.

  • Supervision- Effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities to club staff and volunteers, while holding them accountable for the effective implementation of club programs and services consistent with organizational goals and mission. 

  • Marketing and Public Relations- Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations to increase the visibility of Club programs and activities. Increase visibility and sustainability of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Youth of the Year, Keystone, etc.)

  2. Required to drive Club van periodically.

  3. Work with staff on special events and/or events in other departments.

  4. Assume other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Four year degree in related field from an accredited college or university.

  • A minimum of five years of work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.

  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.

  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to work in an office environment at a computer.

  • Ability to work in a Club environment with possible extended periods of movement and engagement with members.

  • Ability to do light to moderate lifting.
